Community Leader in Haiti making education possible for Children in Camps
My name is Max Robert Vital, and I am one of the founding Haitian members of Kledèv, a US-based nonprofit founded in 2006 whose mission is to partner with and empower people in Haiti to envision, nurture and realize a brighter, more prosperous future.
Long before the January 2010 earthquake, I’ve been personally concerned and committed to creating programs for kids so they can go to school and have enough to eat. I am continuing these efforts and will never stop! After a good experience with the lessons of the Landmark Forum January of 2012, I learned I really could become the leader I wished to be for myself, my family and my community. I now have many great visions in my head to translate into actions to make a difference in my community.
Since the earthquake, I have been called a super-hero to the 13,000+ kids and adults in the Port-au-Prince tent communities of Tapis Wouj and Campech. Living in a tent or under a tarp is a difficult life – when the rain comes, everything gets wet and people can’t sleep. With the support of friends and great people I’ve met on Facebook, we have made food programs for kids and families as well as a cholera information program so kids and parents would have information to be safe, plus kits to have the items needed to start being safe immediately. These efforts have saved and enriched the lives of so many. There is much more that needs to be done.
Now I am working in my new realm of possibility to empower the children of poor parents still living under tarps with no outside support. I intend to connect many people to this project, so these kids will feel the love and support of people like you.
So today, I hold my hands up to you to ask to join me in supporting 150 kids by our raising $1800 together. With this money – only $12 per child – we will buy essential school supplies and distribute them just in time for the start of the school year, opening October 1st.
Without this program, the children may languish and have no bright future to live into. If we raise more than $1800, we will expand the program to more kids. We aim to keep hope alive for these kids and their families and alleviate a future of crime, drugs and violence. The children are the future of the world, and education is the key to the development of a civilized society.
Please support this program with your contribution and by sharing this with people in your network. Together, we can make a big difference for people and also participate in the rebuilding of Haiti.
Thank you for your consideration and for everything you do for this world. We are so grateful!
